Allow Yourself To Rest

Enjoy the time you have to sit still

I talk a lot about how important it is to enjoy the process.

Enjoy the workouts you’re doing.
Enjoy the way you’re eating while you chase your goals.

But there’s one thing I don’t talk about enough…

You also need to enjoy the time you have to sit still.

Rest is just as important as the “work stuff.”

It feels good to be productive, checking things off the list, getting things done, making progress.

But for your mental health, rest is productive too.

If you can’t sit down and relax for an hour without feeling guilty…
that might be a sign you’ve got some things to work through.

I like to look at rest as the cherry on top of a productive day.

Not because I “earned it”…
but because it reminds me I’ve done what I can do today.

And now I can sit at peace, knowing I don’t have to keep chasing.

Because if you’re constantly working, constantly pushing, constantly trying to stay ahead…

You’ll end up chasing something you’ll never catch.

So take a second.

Take a breath.

And actually enjoy the scenery around you.

And we can relate this to fitness too.

If you’re someone who never likes to rest, that’s like trying to live in the gym, doing 1000 sets until you pass out.

We all know that’s not productive.

So this week, plan rest into your schedule.

And when you do rest, don’t sit there thinking about everything you “should” be doing instead.

Actually relax.

Watch a movie.
Read a book.
Play a game.

Let yourself soak in the peace you deserve.

Because rest isn’t quitting.

Rest is part of the work.
