The Importance of Rest
Whether we are talking about rest days, rest times, or mental rest, taking a breather is vital for a healthy lifestyle.
When creating a program for yourself, make sure to pick specific days where you do take a rest day and recover. Constantly putting stress on the body will catch up to you if you don’t time your rest days well.
What I typically do is 3 days on, one day off. So 3 days of workouts then I will rest the next day and repeat.
In any workout, you also have to keep in mind how long you are resting in between sets. Those rest times are equally important because it determines how well you will complete the following set.
The time you rest all depends on the intensity and fatigue levels of the exercise.
I usually aim for 1.5 minutes to 5 minutes between sets. Only creeping 5 minutes or more if it’s a hard exercise like deadlifts or some sort of squat variant.
Prioritizing health involves so many things, however rest is easily forgotten about due to some thinking it is regressing their progress. However, if you prioritize your rest, your days of work will be even better.
Using Lifting Straps
Lifting straps are an amazing tool to use when lifting heavy weight. Whether that’s on your back workouts, or deadlift days, lifting straps are going to make your life much easier.
Straps are sometimes looked at negatively because some believe that your grip strength should be getting stronger alongside your back.
However, this just means your are limiting your back progress.
Lifting straps remove the grip factor and allow you to truly take your back to it’s limits. You will notice that you can lift a lot more than you thought.
So make sure to get yourself a pair and watch your progress be taken to the next level.
