The Power of the Sun
Whenever we start to creep into summer, I always have this realization of how important sunlight is for our overall health.
The past couple years of my life, I have not gotten as much sunlight that I probably should be getting. So this year I had a goal to get outside more and get as much sun as I can.
Benefits of sunlight range from:
Supporting Brain Health
Better Mental Health
Lowering Blood Pressure
Improving Immune System
And more
However, I have my own personal TOP 3 BENEFITS that sunlight does for my own life.
Mental Health: There will be times where I will be having a rough day and stepping outside immediately brightens my mood.
Improved Physique: There is a reason why bodybuilders tan before stepping on stage; a tan will make you look dramatically better.
Improved Social Life: When the weather is warm and the sun is out, I find it much easier to get out and meet up with friends.
Sunlight is a powerful tool in my life and I am thankful that I am making more of an effort to soak it in.
Make sure you do as well.
Water Goals
Water intake is a big pillar in creating a healthy lifestyle and sometimes it can be difficult for some to hit their daily goal.
It can be easy to get overwhelmed with all the changes when deciding to better yourself and sometimes water intake is the first to go because you are so focused on hitting your calorie goals, protein intake, or even just getting your steps in for the day.
So take it in baby steps.
Instead of jumping right into drinking 3 litres a day, try starting out with 1.5 litres for the first week, then up it by either another cup of water or half a litre.
If you overwhelm yourself, it is easy to burnout and regress back to your bad habits.
This is why you should take it slow and be consistent to build a healthy routine that you can actually enjoy and stick with.
My Two Favourite Cardio Options
Walking: The easiest option, you can either do this in the comforts of your home by purchasing a treadmill, or simply just go for a walk outside in the sun.
Any Sport: An underrated form of cardio, something you enjoy doing with your friends while also keeping your heart rate up.
