The Journey > The Destination

Something that needs to be valued more is the journey to your goals rather than the actual outcome.

We spend so much time worrying about getting to our exact vision of where we should be, that we miss the part that actually matters.

The journey is where you discover what you can handle, people who support you, and habits that last a lifetime.

Typically, the destination never comes due to our goals adapting throughout the journey.

If you’re always chasing what you could be, you’ll never appreciate where you are presently.

It is healthy to have goals, but those goals should not fog your mindset.

When losing weight, sometimes the scale doesn’t change but the feeling and visual does. You can be more comfortable in the mirror and happy with your body but have barely changed the number on the scale.

So, remember to appreciate where you are today, and be proud of the steps you’ve taken during your journey, because if you don’t appreciate the steps, then you won’t appreciate the view from the top.

The Company

This quote goes around when people are talking about how valuable the journey is and I want to share my thoughts.

I believe the journey and steps taken will always be the most valuable for the individual walking it, however the close second is the people you meet along the way.

You are who you surround yourself with. Surround yourself with lazy people and it’ll be easier to just stay in bed. Surround yourself with motivated friends and watch yourself slowly improve.

It is impossible to take a journey truly alone, people will come into your life one way or another and these interactions will help you progress.

Whether it’s accountability or just a simple “I’m here for you” text, these interactions keep you going.

If you can learn one thing from this email, I would hope it’s this:

Don’t make the journey harder on yourself by being rude to those who want to see you win.

Everyone’s got their own journey and I’ve found that motivating others on theirs, helps me progress on my own goals.

All in all,

Live positively, appreciate those around you, and love the baby steps you take.

Daily Step Count

Speaking of all these steps in life. Lets talk about step count.

Step count is simple, get around 8-12k steps a day and this will drastically help with your weight loss journey.

I understand this might seem like a big intimidating number but once you start focusing on getting out more or walking around the house. This number becomes much easier.

Start with short walks outside, and gradually build up to longer walks. I promise once you start making it a habit, it will be easy.
